About Our Preschool
Teaching Philosophy
Our teaching team concentrates on helping children develop spiritually, socially, intellectually, and emotionally. This is accomplished through multiple intelligence (Howard Gardner- Frames of Mind 1983) lesson plans, believing that each child develops and learns in their own unique manner. All children can learn, but maybe not on the same day and not in the same way.
All students are taught age appropriate Biblical truths to help them begin their journey with Jesus. We use a non-denominational, Christian based curriculum to emphasize the teachings of Jesus and how they affect the children’s daily lives. We want to plant the seed of faith that we hope will continue to grow long after your child leaves Preschool.
Typical Day
Children transition between many educational activities throughout their day with guided teacher assistance. Our learning atmosphere depends on personal interaction, education materials, and large/small motor play equipment.
Certifications
All St. Philip’s Preschool and Ministry staff have obtained ACT 33, ACT 34, fingerprint clearances under the State of Pennsylvania. Our staff has also completed certification in Pediatric CPR and First Aid.

Classroom Curriculum & Goals
In PreK 4, we provide a loving, fun and creative environment where the children learn about and experience the love of Jesus! Students are introduced to the alphabet through stories, hands-on activities, and letter writing practice. We also learn more about numbers, patterns, colors and shapes. The development of fine and gross motor skills is a primary focus through hands-on sensory activities as well as “big room” and outside play. The teachers provide lots of time for socializing with peers, learning how to manage conflicts with words and working on developmentally appropriate self-help skills. Students also get to work on colorful hands-on art projects centered around different seasons and holidays. Finally, we share monthly Bible stories about God and Jesus in fun and interactive ways to make it a meaningful and enjoyable experience for the students.

Higher Goals
While we aim to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond, we also strive to help students lay a foundation for a relationship with Christ.
